Starbucks…etc…

So we see them everywhere right? That Starbucks on the corner of well…just about every street corner.  Buying a coffee everyday, however, can really drain your wallet.  I usually get a venti green tea iced no classic that costs roughly $2.27 including tax.  Here’s a tip.  Keep your cup and your receipt, you will appreciate this in the long run.  If you want another tea, don’t pay that full $2.27!  You can get a refill for the price of $0.57! Which is a great bargain.  You see once this happens they can’t charge you fill price for another tea during the day!  But…they don’t advertise this anywhere because they want a full profit.  So next time you’re at Starbucks, make sure you don’t pay that full price for your drink, because you could be saving a lot of money by getting a refill!

If your just a normal coffee drinker, face it, coffee is coffee.  People will try and argue with me on this, but really doesn’t coffee just come from a bean?

When we are out shopping, we always ask ourselves do I really this?  What purpose will this serve if I buy this?  Well the time has come when you need to ask yourself, in 30 days will I want and still need this?

So you find that perfect pair of jeans and you think to yourself wow these are a great find.  So you spend $100 on jeans that you might not need in a month because come on, you live in phoenix.  How many months out of the year can you wear jeans during the day? About two.  So wait thirty days.  I know it’s hard to wait 30 days with jeans because you think someone else can buy them!  Well let fate step in with this.  If you have any doubt what so ever then it probably wasn’t worth it anyways.  If you have doubt, just wait it out and see if you really need them.  It’s best to save your money.  You never know when  something may go wrong with you car, or your straightener might break!

For materialistc items, only buy them if you are sure you need them!  You might find that urge that you had to buy that item will be gone in 30 days.

christmasTis the Season to be jolly…falalalalalalala. Well being jolly is running your bank account dry in order to buy gifts for people right? Well why don’t you use your creativity and take a trip back to childhood and make your own gifts! It’s quite fun..and you’ll save a lot of money.

And the best part about it may be….the fact that everyone of your friends can get the same thing! So it will eliminate all that drama of “oh you got the better gift!” You can make homemade bread, soap, cookies and much much more! You can save a lot of money by doing this.  I plan on doing this for Christmas this year.

So you have that special someone right and you just don’t know what to get them.  For all you guys out there listen up! Get the cutest picture of you and your girlfriend.  Go down to Michaels and buy a plain wooden frame.  Get some red paint and paint it for her….and get creative i know you guys are creative!  You can get stickers to put on the frames that say “our first Christmas”! Guarantee guys the girl will fall head over heels for you!

Ok so ladies…you know your guys favorite sports team right? Or at least you should! You can get iron on paper that irons on to fabric at Michaels.  Get some of that, print out the Logo of his favorite team and put it on a pillow case! Walmart has pillows for $2. WA LA. you have a present for him right then and there!

I will have more tips on great presents…once I think about them!

Until next time….🙂

So everybody enjoys watching a movie here and there! Well going out and renting a $4 movie can definitely add up!  So there’s this thing that I’m addicted to now! It’s called RedBox.

And it’s pretty self explanatory.  It’s a giant red box and they are placed outside gas stations, inside supermarkets and Wal Marts.  They have all the new releases and you can browse through over 100 movies.  But I haven’t got to the best part yet!  It only costs $1 to rent! And if you’re bad at returning movies on time, don’t worry.  It charges you a dollar per day you are late!  So if you have the movie for 4 days, it will charge you 4 dollars, but who keeps a movie for 4 days!

 redbox

Red Box always has new releases out every Tuesday! So next time you’re out and about and you see that Red Box, stop and grab yourself a movie!!

It only takes credit/debit cards and make sure you know what the zip code is that goes along with your card!

Until next time….🙂

grocery1Alright so we all do it.  We see coupons and ignore them.  Well it’s time to stop ignoring them.  Just yesterday I was going through the paper and started looking through a grocery store’s coupon book.  I was surprised to find some great deals! So I went to the grocery store with my coupons, (yes I did feel like a cute grandma) and I bought what I could with the coupons I had.

To my astonishment, I saved $12 on a $32 dollar purchase! Those coupons saved me $12! It was amazing.  Look for coupons with savings on milk, yogurt and your everyday eats!!

Since the price of gas is coming down once again, people are forgetting how important it is to save a little bit of money here and there! Use those coupons, look for the great deals.  Also look to see if something is cheaper at another store! Sometimes it’s better to get out of the norm of going to the same grocery store everyday! Expand your horizons and go somewhere different, you might save a little bit of money and enjoy your time out!

Until next time…🙂

planes1So it is extremely ridiculous how much it costs to fly now a days.  And it’s not just the fares that have gone, it’s all the little things as well.  If you look at any airline, except Southwest, they now charge you to check bags! How out of this world is that!? I mean come on! First of all, you aren’t allowed to take any liquids more then what can fit in a sandwich bag on the plane, so what if your someone like me who wears contact lenses and you need a big bottle of solution, well forget it! They will not let you on that plane with anything larger then what will fit in a sandwich bag.

ALSO. K listen to this! On the news last night was an investigation into the scales at airports!! Southwest allows you have to have 2 bags under 50 pounds for free.  Well most airports messed with their scales to make the bags weigh more so they make more of the profit! So first. Weigh your bags before you get to the airport! Know how much your bag weighs and if you get there and they tell you that it weighs more then 50 pounds tell them to think again, and re weigh it somewhere else.  It’s not fair how much people are taken advantage of when they fly! CHECK THE WEIGHT OF YOUR BAG BEFORE YOU GO TO THE AIRPORT. I can’t keep stressing how important that is.  ESPECIALLY during the holiday season.  They know you are going to be traveling heavy, it’s Christmas time and you probably have gifts in your luggage, or warmer clothes which weigh more!

Look on line to see if you have some good prices wherever you might be flying this holiday season.

Until next time….🙂

Black Friday

So Black Friday is just around the corner, but do you really think you’re going to get the best deals?  With the way this economy is people really don’t have the money to go out and buy items like they used too.

Be careful when you go to stores that are closing.  Liquidators come in and decide what the prices are going to be, and this could potentially hurt consumers in the long run.  They mark up the original price so when you buy the item you think you’re getting it for 75% off the original price when in all reality they just marked up the original price to make you think that you are getting a great deal when you really aren’t.

Also be careful of the buy one get one free deals, more commonly referred to “BOGO”.  This can lead to trouble.  Stores often times raise the original price of the item so you’ll buy the item and think you’re getting one for free when in reality you might have only saved $5 and had to buy two of the same thing.

Be safe and smart out there on black friday…and I wish you all the best of luck!

Turn the Lights Off

So we all do it, we forget to turn out our lights.  But what happens when businesses leave their lights on all night? Just the other day I was driving through a parking lot at night when the stores were closed and every single light in that store was on.  If everyone, especially busnisses are complaing about why they aren’t making any money then something needs to be done about those darn lights.  These lights never turn off.  I live in about a 700 square foot apartment and with lights and air alone costs me about 180 a month.  If you take into account a store like Target for instance who probably has a square feet of 25,000 or more and look at that electricity bill it will really add up.  And this is not fair to the consumer or for anyone else for that matter.  In result, these companies have to raise their prices so they can make a profit in the long run.  It’s not fair to have these high electricity bills that could easily be avoided with a flip of a switch.  I don’t know who is in charge of this, but somebody needs to say something to them.

Thanksgiving

Okay, so this blog is probably going to carry into two…maybe three.  But it is coming that time of Thanksgiving and having the family over you really don’t want to have over.  And of course they offer to bring things over and you really don’t want the mincemeat pie from Aunt Mildred, so you decide to take the meal into your own hands and cook what you want to cook.

But the family doesn’t bring over money for pay for all of it!!! If you’re having a lot of people over, buy a premade pie from Costco.  The large pumpkin pies there are only 5.99 and where are you going to buy all your ingredients for 5.99? And that takes away the hassle of you cooking the pie the night before, or even the day of.

Now for the turkey.  you need to be careful when buying your turkey because a lot of times they inject the turkies with this solution that makes the turkey weigh more, and the more the turkey weighs, the more you are going to pay for the turkey. So make sure you look at the turkey to see if it’s solution injected.

So although Christmas is still more then 6 weeks away, now is the time to start sending away those gifts.  If you do it now, you will save your self a lot of stress and worries during the Holiday Season.  If you have loved ones in Iraq, today is one of the last days you can mail a package and assurance of them receiving it in time.  The holiday season seems far away, but it really is right around the corner and for you last minute shoppers, i’t really important that you start now on those gifts.

FedEX offers a delivery option where you can plan the delivery at a specific time.  This is a guarantee.  When you are thinking about sending those gifts this holiday season, it’s really important to start early.

This seems like common sense, but really don’t send breakables. If you really want to give someone a gift, think logically about that.

Until Next Time…
